Overcoming Knee Problems

15 years ago I was a very active basketball player.  I used to love playing the sport in my spare time after school and on the weekends.  Throughout all the years of playing the game, I must have leapt into the air thousands of times, landing on hard concrete each time putting a lot of strain on my knees.

Now, 15 years later I’m starting to feel some slight pain and discomform in my knees and on occasion I feel like I “tweak” my right knee in some weird way and it really hurts for a few days.  The last time I did this was a few weeks back when I was doing some work on my car.  I was bent over and reaching in underneath the car, puting all my body weight on my knees in a weird way.  It didn’t feel like I did anything to them, except when I went to go up the stairs a few minutes later I put my weight on my right knee as usual and it felt like a sharp stabbing pain shot through it.

My knee felt “off” for a few days after that and I did my best to keep my weight off of it.  I can mostly feel it when going up and down stair cases.  After a few days it healed up and it doesn’t hurt anywhere near as much anymore but I can still fill some slight discomfort in it on occasion.

So, I have decided to dig a little deeper and get some more information on taking care of my knees and take some preventative steps to keeping them healthy.  I don’t want to just ignore the problem and end up having massive knee problems in my later years.  I’d much rather take some preventative steps to fixing the problem instead of waiting until it’s too late.

I’m going to start looking into some natural remedies to help keep my knees healthy.  Whether that’s from a nutritional point of view, taking the supplements and eating the foods required to keep my joints healthy or from a strengthening point of view to find the stretches and strengthening exercises to help keep the muscles and tendens around the knees supple and strong.
