Monks to create sand painting at K-State
Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling art painting Monastery will construct a mandala sand painting this week at the Kansas State University Student Union in Manhattan.
From Monday through Thursday, the monks will place millions nba jerseys of grains of colored sand on a flat platform to form the image of a mandala. ”Mandala” is a Sankrit word that means ”cosmogram.”
Traditionally, sand mandalas are destroyed shortly after their completion. The sands are swiss military watch swept up and placed in an urn. As a metaphor for the impermanence of life, half of the sand goes to the audience at the closing ceremony, and the cocktail dresses remainder is carried to a nearby body of water so the water can carry the healing blessing to the ocean and spread designer wedding dresses throughout the world.
The closing ceremony is scheduled to begin at noon Thursday in runescape gold the Courtyard and will move to Mid-Campus Creek.
To date, the monks have created mandala sand paintings wow power leveling in more than 100 museums, art centers and higher-education institutions in the United States and Europe.
